I developed my love for a good looking car from my father…he loved the construction of cars, especially old ones!!

This is a photo of my mom and dad in the 1940’s. I know what my dad was thinking, “I’ve got it all, a beautiful lady and a beautiful car, life doesn’t get much better!!” The car was a 1934 Ford Touring car, he used to talk about it a lot, with a huge smile on his face!!

I must have been channeling my dad, when we came upon this parade of antique cars one Saturday in Winchester, Virginia, when they blocked off the street to regular cars!!

I love this aqua Ford Fairlane, circa 1957…as my father would have said, “She’s a beauty!!” A phrase I kept thinking over and over as I saw each car!!

This red 1957 Chevy is a classic in beautiful condition!!

The purple finish on this 1940’s Ford Coupe is pristine!!

When I was a kid, in the 1950’s, I remember having a ride in a Cadillac convertible, similar to this one, and just thought it was the most luxurious thing ever…sweet memories to think back on💙

Victor was admiring this, sharp looking 1950’s Styleline Chevolet convertible, with red interior and red rimmed hubcaps!!

The Berryville, VA fire department was very proud to show off this 1965 fire engine!!

We had such an enjoyable morning meandering down the streets of a charming old Virginia town, imagining what it was like when these cars graced them anew! If you ever get the chance, like we did, to enjoy an antique car show, don’t hesitate to do so!!

This is my last post before I change the name of my blog to Visions of My 70’s!! Yikes!!! How am I going to stay youngish in my 70’s??? A good place to start, go to anything your grandchildren invite you to…

I have never been a fan of SpongeBob Squarepants, as a matter of fact I discouraged my older grandson from watching it!! However, when it comes to my younger grandson, well anything goes, it’s kind of like how it was with our children… the younger ones benefited from the older ones paving the way!!

And so when Gina asked if we would accompany her and Parker to SpongeBob the Musical at Toby’s Dinner Theater in Columbia, Maryland, we said, sure👍🏼 But, we were apprehensive…

This is how the theater is set up before the dinner and show…

And then they wheel in the food carts for a buffet luncheon…when walking up to get our food, they asked everyone to wear masks and provided us with plastic gloves to serve ourselves…I felt very Covid safe!!

They had a special pineapple drink for children and then provided them with a clean glass to take home after the show, for a souvenir!! A picture of Gina and Parker enjoying the meal!! And the food was really good…they had an extensive fresh salad bar, another area had mac and cheese, breads, all types of vegetables and then a meat carving station!! Desserts of cheese cake and lemon cake with icing, were passed around by the actors and then they offered ice cream with chocolate sauce, out in the lobby!! It was so well run, we were all very impressed!!

Then, they wheeled the carts out of sight from the middle of the floor, most likely to the kitchen, cleared our plates, which the actors helped with!!! The crew staged the area and then the show began!!!

Everyone but Parker was pleasantly surprised…because Parker knew it was going to be awesome!! The acting, singing, dancing and costumes were broadway worthy!! They even had a fabulous tap number, which made me very happy!! I was curious as there didn’t appear to be many young children in the audience, Parker was probably on the younger side of audience members. So I did a little research and found that, on a review of the TV show, for parents, it said, “While the show is intended for young children, it has become popular with older children, as old as college, which may give some indication to the show’s content. While the show is funny, imaginative and has colorful situations, but it may not always be the best program for small children.”

I agree, however, Parker is mature, intelligent, and very polite, which his parent’s have instilled in him. He finds something in this cartoon that stirs his imagination, to the point that he writes his own stories, complete with illustrations. Since, he watches other programs and reads extensively, which are also other factors that feed into his creativity!!

With all this being said, I go back to the Musical, and say it is incredibly fun and family-friendly, its timeless story of identity crisis, and community is witty and examines the politics of the modern era, and it does so in such a way where children will appreciate and understand the plot line, while adults can read between the lines and extract even more from the musicals message. By the way, original songs for the musical were written by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, and Panic!  Another good reason to enjoy the show!!
